Hello October! My favorite time of year. The trees are a riot of colour, leaves starting to fall, crisp under foot. Yesterday was glorious, the autumn sun blinding when you drive, getting slightly cooler, but still mild enough where you don’t need a coat (more’s the pity as I’m dying to wear my new Marc Cain coat).
So, what are you up to this fall weekend? There's a host of events on here in support of Belfast Restaurant Week (starting Saturday). There’s just so much to choose from - here's a little selection of my personal favorites.
Taste and Dine -The curtain raiser for Belfast Restaurant Week. Belfast City Hall will be transformed into an eye catching village of pop up restaurants, food and drink exhibitors, talks and demonstrations. Always a hoot, no doubt I’ll be sampling some weird and wacky food. Fried pig’s trotter anyone?
St. George’s Market Demonstrations. A different Chef each day showcasing a variety of NI produce.
Fifty Shades of Wine: The Sequel @ Shu Lisburn Road. Anything taking place at Shu is fine by me, this sounds like fun.
Cocktails & Canapés City Style. Lip gloss at the ready, bubbles and supper for the stylish @ The glamorous Fitzwilliam Hotel.
Deanes EIPIC Homecoming! Oh Wow – of course it’s sold out.
Chateau Palmer Wine Dinner @ The Ivory - For the wine lovers. The Ivory boasts one of the best rooftop terraces in Belfast, seek it out if you get there.
All sounds pretty exciting? Think I need an extra day between Friday and Saturday.
Exhausted from the above, I'll be spending Sunday at home wrapping gifts (oh joy, I love wrapping pressies). I got a baby present to send for the arrival of my Goddaughter, little Vesper Sienna Foster. Awwwww........
Made up of a pretty cashmere blanket from the White Company, lots of cute baby outfits from JoJo Maman Bébé (new baby boutique on the Lisburn Road), and of course, something for the lady who did all the hard work – yummy mummy Ellie (well done Ells), something bubbly I think. Then there’s a care pack to be sorted for my little friend at Durham University (hello Sophie). I’m thinking a ‘Goodie Gift Bag of The Season’ (yum) from Hotel Chocolat (plenty to share), some seriously trashy gossip mags, and a pretty scented candle (it’s her first house share), and maybe some cosy socks (students digs are usually chilly). I got one more present, for someone very special to me, but she reads my blog daily, so don’t want to spoil the surprise. Shhhhhhh.
Enjoy your weekend, hope it's a good one x
