“If Carlsberg did” Fridays they’d go something like this……..

Jo Malone new ways to indulge

Now I appreciate I’m a blogger and therefore afforded access and invites to some pretty exciting events (a privilege not lost on me and something for which I’m truly grateful); but Friday has to be one of the nicest ‘working’ days I’ve experienced, in a while.

I was scheduled to meet with Bobbi Brown Global Pro Team Make-Up Artist, Amy Conway (which is always a joy), but as I strolled past the Jo Malone store the girls were all a giggle about their new bath and body range and invited me in for a massage (all this going on and it’s only 11.00 am).  After a bit of arm-twisting (not) I agreed to come back, after my chat with Amy and a long over due coffee break (I know, I know, and I call this work).

So, my day started with a Bobbi Brown make over. I’d arrived completely make up free (so liberating for a foundation junkie like me) and got to chat all things ‘Bobbi Brown’ whilst viewing and sampling their new Telluride makeup collection (more of which you’ll read about next week – but the plum shades are fantastic and will help ease the transition from summer to fall).

Quick coffee then onto Jo Malone, where the gorgeous and gregarious Reyna indulged me in an invigorating hand and arm exfoliation, with their new Geranium & Walnut Body Scrub (smells divine) - again, more news next week (wait ‘til you hear about their heavenly new shower oils!). Did I mention they poured me a glass of fizz?

It’s now the middle of the afternoon.  I’m scrubbed, buffed, scented (Lime, Basil & Mandarin), dewy faced and sparkly plumed of eyes, if only I had somewhere to take this look! Oh yes, how about ‘The Roof Top Summer Party @Sixty6’ (more champagne hic!).

The party certainly didn’t disappoint. I got there early and was able to see the roof top terrace in all its ‘Hamptons-esque’ glory.  This really is a great outdoor space (ideal for a corporate event). Sixty6 has gone all upmarket Hamptons-beach-cool, with their new scheme, which includes white wood panelled walls, duck egg blue and grey scatter cushions on navy cosy seating, giving this an air of sophistication, whilst maintaining a relaxed vibe.

Storm lanterns line the stairs and grey snuggly blankets are hung for your use (think they’ll come in handy). But the totally retractable roof and powerful overhead heaters are what make this space special. On Friday, it had - quite literally - ‘pelted down’ (as it does in Ireland) just an hour before, but voilà! sixty minutes later the roof had been retracted and the skies were blue.

The only downside (sorry Sixty6, but it’s the same for all roof top bars at the moment) how will it control the smoking? I know, I know it’s a bit of a rant, but these beautiful spaces can become a no-go area for non-smokers, as rooftop bars render themselves pleasurable or insufferable; but I’m sure there’s a compromise on the horizon and, that aside, the RT @Sixty6 is certainly somewhere to which I’ll return.

So, as Friday came to a close and I removed my lovely plum shadow (boo, hoo), I reflected on my delightful day…….

Make-up, Massage, Party, Repeat!

How did your weekend go?

Thanks for reading, Jackie.
